This double CD is the 9th installment of the hugely successful Drum and Bass Arena mix series and this time it’s the turn of dnb heavyweights Friction and Fabio to take the spotlight.
The first mix, by Friction, is a complete tear out of new and exclusive tunes including some huge remixes of Shy FX classics ‘Bambaata’ and ‘Ra’ done by Break and G Dub respectively as well as some of the material forthcoming on Frictions own record labels Shogun and SGN LTD. In contrast Fabio’s mix on CD 2 is a much more laid back, chilled out affair with tracks from Artificial Intelligence, Calibre and Random Movement.

Pendulum are back with their second studio album and you’ll either love it or hate it. They have divided the scene and are often nicknamed ‘marmite’ as a result, but there is no getting away from the talent these guys have in the studio, the album is very tight and well produced.
The album was very much geared towards playing the songs live rather than in the clubs and has a huge rock influence as a result, moving further and further away from there earlier material. However this sound has given them an edge in trying to reach a wider, more mainstream audience with ‘Granite’ and ‘Propane Nightmares’ both getting regular airplay on Radio One in the UK.
The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA’s) were held last night at Paramount Pictures, in Los Angeles, hosted by Russell Brand.
The awards itself aren’t that great in my books however I still thought I should cover it. Just in case any teenie poppers were out there wanting to know about they’re idol Britney.

West Coast rapper and producer Dr Dre has pushed his album back, with the first single being released in November and then the album dropping in December. This is being alongside a heavy marketing campaign promoting both the album and his Aftermath Cognac.
Meanwhile East Coast rapper and NY businessman 50 Cent, Curtis Jackson, was planning on releasing his album in December. This would cause problems however…. basically with both rappers being under the Interscope Umbrella, the label isn’t wanting it to happen.
